Academic scholarship can sound dry and boring and removed from the lives of undergraduates. “Think of it as party,” says Sara Scheib, UI Libraries’ Head of Scholarly Impact, “where there are multiple conversations happening.” Learn how scholars use articles to discuss their research, refine each others’ ideas and add to the world’s knowledge. We can all be part of the scholarly conversation at the academic party. Understanding how the conversation works and how scholars develop ideas allows undergraduates to process information more efficiently, save time by focusing on the important stuff and make their own contributions.
